چکیده

We present a fast numerical technique for calculating the series impedance matrix of systems with round conductors. The method is based on a surface admittance operator in combination with the method of moments and it accurately predicts both skin and proximity effects. Application to a three-phase armored cable with wire screens demonstrates a speedup by a factor of about 100 compared to a finite elements computation. The inclusion of proximity effect in combination with the high efficiency makes the new method very attractive for cable modeling within EMTPtype simulation tools. Currently, these tools can only take skin effect into account.

Dynamic Harmonic Analysis of Long Term over Voltages Based on Time Varying Fourier series in Extended Harmonic Domain

Harmonics have become an important issue in modern power systems. The widespread penetration of non-linear loads to emerging power systems has turned power quality analysis into an important operation issue under both steady state and transient conditions. This paper employs an Extended Harmonic Domain (EHD) based framework for dynamic analysis of long term analysis over voltages during the tra...

Electrical and Thermal Analysis of Single Conductor Power Cable Considering the Lead Sheath Effect Based on Finite Element Method

This paper investigates the effect of metallic sheaths on losses and temperature of medium voltage power cables. Two grounding methods of sheaths, including both ends bonding and single point bonding that causes different situations on cable ampacity, are considered. Electrical losses of cables that are main sources of heat are calculated in both conductor and metallic sheath of the cables. She...

Effects of CT and VT Connection Point on Distance Protection of Transmission Lines with FACTS Devices

This paper presents the effects of instrument transformers connection points on the measured impedance by distance relays in the presence of Flexible Alternating Current Transmission System (FACTS) devices with series connected branch. Distance relay tripping characteristic itself depends on the power system structural conditions, pre-fault operational conditions, and especially the ground ...

Stability Analysis and Robust PID Control of Cable Driven Robots Considering Elasticity in Cables

In this paper robust PID control of fully-constrained cable driven parallel manipulators with elastic cables is studied in detail. In dynamic analysis, it is assumed that the dominant dynamics of cable can be approximated by linear axial spring. To develop the idea of control for cable robots with elastic cables, a robust PID control for cable driven robots with ideal rigid cables is firstly de...

High Voltage Pulse Generator by connecting Normal Coaxial Cables in series and in parallel without using Blumlein method

In order to carry out the simulation of the electrical noise, a pulse generator with fast rise time is needed. For this reason, the pulse generator using a coaxial cable is usually used. The pulse generator consists of a DC power supply, a charging resistor, a coaxial cable, a relay, and a terminator. Even the same voltage as charge voltage was outputted when the termination of the impedance wa...
